Life's Buttons

We’re constantly viewing a movie inside our minds. Just like a DVD player we can always press a button and watch. However some people prefer to dwell on their favorite button.
slow down and fastforward
Here are five basic ‘life's buttons’ similar to a DVD player:

The Rewind Mode – When we choose to rewind the painful events in our lives and refuse to move forward. We become  ‘prisoners’ of the past and eventually end up living in misery.

The Fast Forward Mode – When we tend to get so busy making a living but not making a ‘life’. We are always in a hurry trying to accomplish everything at one time.

The Stop Mode - The time when we refuse to live. We try to run away from all concern and focus on vices or addictions just to relieve hurts or anxieties. We engage on self-gratifying activities without thinking the needs of other people.

The Pause Mode – We need to pause for awhile and rest. We have to recount good memories and realize its lessons. However, we don’t have to stay that long on this mode because we have to consider the fifth mode.

The Play Mode – When we try to savor life including all the joys and pains of living. We face every challenge that comes our way and enjoy the journey. This could be the happiest mode.

These buttons are available to us. It’s up to us to choose which mode fits us.

I love the premise of the buttons here, More so the rewind button, its so true!
How we can go over and over that which has caused us pain.

Its a button we don't use during those great moments, we don't want to relive it, we want to ride it out, almost like a surfer catching a wave.

:D

My main goal is always to be at PLAY. Ok, maybe sometimes on the PAUSE :) Really like your parallel to the buttons of DVD player, fairly smart and clear.

Such a great post. I thought it was really inspirational :) Completely agree with the rewind button mode -- need to let things go.

I never think of that! Well, you really are a good writer, you envisioned it the way things are in life. I love it!

as a human being we get so overwhelmed by thoughts of some painful events from our past. Some find it hard to let go hence the miserable life. We all have those painful past events but i think we should all try to let go. Live a day at time and look forward for tomorrow. I always tell my friends that there can be worse things in life and tomorrow is always a better day than today. Do you agree with me??

I need to take myself out of fast forward and just click play. Life moves quickly, but no reason to make it go even quicker!

Yes, I agree, life moves so quickly and sometimes we make it even quicker. Hope we could learn to play again..and pause..and play again! thanks Michelle!
