Communication and Nomophobia

Sometimes, we're so attached with the world  yet we are detached?  How's that? Let the image and the quotes do the explanation : )

The more elaborate our means of communication, the less we communicate. ~Joseph Priestley

Modern technology and media have made the world a smaller place. However, loneliness is still one of the biggest plagues in our modern society. As it is, we spend more time communicating with the world outside, and have little or no time communicating with the people around us. ~Fr. Jerry Orbos

The problem with communication ... is the illusion that it has been accomplished. ~George Bernard Shaw

The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives. ~Anthony Robbins

The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood. The best way to understand people is to listen to them. ~Ralph Nichols

yes, feels so lost at times without the phone and the internet...but at least that would be the time to keep in touch with our loved ones - "in person"... that would be the best connection!

Ha!ha! I think I am not like this yet. I can live a day without my mobile phone. Its just a mtter of self-discipline 'coz anyway we don't used to have these gadgets before. Unless its work related, I agree! no excuse.

the mobile phone has become the most accessible medium of communication. we tend to easily express our thoughts through text rather than saying it personally. whatever it is, emotion is still an integral part of communication.

May ganito na rin? haha... My friends and co-workers actually are not fond of texting me, they message me on FB instead because they know I spend more time on the internet than my phone. :)

I usually use my phone for important matters and of course, as an alternative if I don;t have a computer, that's the power of wifi and android. lol!

Cellphones today are really important means of communication. I lost three cellphones already but I did not nag myself because I don't have one and yes I was able to survive having no cellphones because I have noted all my contacts in a separate list so I don't need to worry at all.

technology do change the flow of communications! for example, it;s your birthday, before, when cellphones are in its peak, you will be flooded by text greetings yet now adays even your neighbor and family, will greet your thru facebook and twitter! :)

It's true. I learned to be antisocial when I got my bb, too busy sharing info to tweethearts. I'm making it a point now to lessen tweet time and spend more time again with people around me.

When I was still living in Germany, my mobile was like the extension of my hand. lol

But three years ago, as we moved to the Netherlands, in a quaint, idyllic village (but still 20 minutes away from the busy metropole of Amsterdam).

You know, it truly improved the quality of my life.

Recently hubby bought me a new sim card because he wants to be able to reach me when I am doing my training for running. I had to adjust to get used to it again!

So nice to read and hear from you..Been learning from those remarks. Bottom line, we need to connect with our loved ones regularly (and with other people) with or without the technology! thanks!
