Creating Paper Boxes

Here's another tutorial for hobbyists this Christmas season - How to create paper boxes. Actually the tutorial is intended for  me because I keep on forgetting how to create one. I just thought I need a quick reference.

Steps:
1. Prepare the materials
*Square paper
*Scissors
2. Fold in half.
3. Fold the opposite half. You’ll notice the X crease.

4. Fold all the sides towards the center.
5. Then fold all the edges towards the center.
6. Open up the first quarter.

7. Make a diagonal cut as shown by the arrows.
8. Fold the triangular part towards the center.
9. Do the same thing on the opposite side. Cut the diagonal sides and then fold the triangles.

10. It should appear like this.
11. Fold the remaining sides towards the center.
12. The triangle folds will be used to attach the sides of the +box.
13. Assemble all the sides together.
14. Done. The cover box is ready. Do the same procedure for the base box.
Be sure that the paper size is few centimeters smaller (for the base box).

Have a joyful weekend, friends!

Creating Paper Angels

Here's another re-post. I just thought some creative folks might benefit from it.

Last year, I need an angel background  for some graphic works.  I remembered creating the same craft several years back. While scanning my files, I saw the template (the last image). Then I decided to make this quick tutorial.

1. Have the images printed on paper boards.
2. Cut the lines including the horizontal lines.
3. Use those horizontal lines to connect both edges. (see procedure 4 )
4. Enhance your craft by making some drawings or designs.

Simple Santa Origami

Here's a simple tutorial (Santa origami)  that I've  posted on another site last year. It's no longer visible on that site so I've decided to make a re-post.

1. Prepare a square paper (with red on one side and white on the other side). An ideal size is 15 cm x 15 cm. (item 1)

2. Make triangle folds to create the crease (item 2)

3. First, focus on the upper part (santa’s hat) . Make a fold towards the middle (item 3).

4. Create a crease by folding towards the upper portion (item 4). Then make two small folds as shown in items 5, 6 and 7 in order to expose the white portion of the hat .

5. Then proceed to the lower part (santa’s beard). Make a fold towards the middle (item 8).

6. Make another fold to expose the white portion (item 9).

7. Turn to the back, (red side) of the paper and fold the edges on both sides. (item 10)

8. Make another fold on both sides towards the middle exposing the white portion. (items 11 and 12)

9. Make another perpendicular fold towards the middle on both sides (items 13 and 14)

10. See to it that both folds are of equal length. It will be the hands of Santa (item 15)

11. Have some glue to fasten the back side (Item 16)

12. Turn it around and draw the face of Santa (Items 17 & 18).

On the Ninth Day...

There are 9 fruits! And I believe  we need them all as we go through this life’s journey.

On the ninth day of Christmas my True Love sent to me, Nine Ladies Dancing...

During my SFC days, I used to discuss the 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit. These are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. (Galatians 5:22-23). These are represented by those  women who were joyfully and patiently waiting for the Lord, the nine ladies dancing.

On the tenth day of Christmas, my True Love sent to me, Ten Lords a-Leaping.

The men on the other hand, were not just dancing but leaping (dancing exuberantly). They are the Ten Lords,  the so-called  Morris dancers representing the 'Ten Commandments.'

On the eleventh day of Christmas my True Love sent to me, Eleven Piper’s Piping…
The eleven musicians played the bagpipes, the woodwind instruments.
It was written that Judas betrayed Jesus. He felt sorry for his action but he chose to end his life leaving the other eleven disciples. They represent the eleven pipers piping.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my True Love sent to me, Twelve Drummers Drumming!
Here goes the musicians again. This time, the drummers  symbolize the twelve articles found in the Apostles Creed.

There you have it… the essence of Twelve Days of Christmas.  Indeed a joyous and meaningful Christmas carol. Let me end this series with one great quote by W.C. Jones:
