Joy Rubbers

happy smiley balls
I want to get infected today!
Not by anxieties, Oh Lord I pray,
No, not by virus or any sickness…
But by the zest of people of gladness!

Let their enthusiasm be rubbed on me.
The genuine smiles I want to see!
Let me catch their sunny dispositions,
Their creativity, love, life and passion!

I got my share of sorrow and pain;
But I’ll choose to rejoice despite the rain.
I’ve been through a lot of troubles and defeat,
Perhaps the ‘high-spirited’ are the best to meet.

In this journey, I need more joy rubbers.
To add  colors and be my life-givers.
Then I’ll  set aside every gloom and doubt.
Cause in my heart, that’s what life is all about!

The Happy and the Unhappy Mugs

Let me share this write-up originally posted on another blogging platform.
I decided to edit and make a re-post.
Perhaps a personal reminder  for me to appreciate and enjoy the day!
the two mugs

There goes my mugs. I just noticed them while preparing to work today. And guess what?  They’ve been whispering conflicting thoughts to me this morning.

The unhappy mug expects another day of work. With so much to accomplish, the day could be another drag. There'll be  a lot of sighing and frowning. He’s always not in the mood because he knows that unfavorable circumstances might arise again (and again).

On the other hand, the second mug looks pretty cheerful. Well, he decided to fix a smile on his face. He’s looking at the brighter side. Whether overwhelmed by work  or not, he simply enjoy the day. Maybe he’s in denial  but it seems that things are working in his favor. He has mastered the art of being hopeful. (and I envy him!)

Anyway, my day today  could be a blend of both. There’ll be joys and worries too. Nevertheless, I should keep the happy mug by my side. Better take a sip often and be reminded that the right attitude towards everything plays a vital part.

By the way let me introduce you to my third mug, the laughing mug.

Have a wonderful weekend, folks!

'Cheer up!' ~  a simple note to self ...and to you as well. We all have our not-so-good days. Anyway, I'd like to share the acronym I've created for cheer up. It's the same post made for bubblews but because of the recent changes on the site a lot of visitors weren't able to  access that post.  Good thing I still have a copy in my computer.
cheer up
C - Cheer up! Keep your cool. Maybe it’s just a bad day, not a bad life!
H – Hang in there! Continue despite the difficulties. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
E – Enjoy the journey. Laugh, and laugh some more. Don't be too hard on yourself.
E – Eat right. Exercise. Nourish yourself.
R – Remind yourself that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is a heart-felt ‘Thank you!’

U – Unclutter your life. Simplify pleasures. Eliminate the needless wants.
P – Pray. Ask for God’s guidance. Believe that the prayers of the righteous are powerful and effective. (James 5:16)

Chasing Happiness

Where can we find happiness? Is it in front or behind us?
Is it in the future or in the past?

chasing happiness cartoon
The story is told about a young lion that asked his mother: “Where is happiness?” The mother lion responded: “On your tail.” Upon hearing this, the young lion started chasing his tail, and spent the whole day doing so. Seeing the young lion tired and exhausted, the mother lion said: “Son, you don’t chase happiness. Just keep moving forward, and your happiness will follow.”

Sometimes we make the mistake of pushing too hard the doors ahead of us, when all we needed to do is to pull. Or, trying to chase after a butterfly, when all we need to do is just to sit still, and let the butterfly come to us and settle on our shoulders. ~shared by Fr. Jerry Orbos SVD

Come to me all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.  ~ Matthew 11:28
