Mood Swings

Like swings are my moods these days. Sometimes up…and sometimes down.  It's normal (I know) but I have to deal and  overcome the negative emotions most of the time. One morning  I decided to listen to a sermon while working. Joel Osteen talked about these changing moods. And I know he's right.  In order to remind myself, I opted  to share his thoughts and views about this.

* Emotional stability should be our daily goal. There should be smiles on our face during sunny or rainy days.
* It would be difficult to live with a moody person.
*Don't go around walking with our troubles. Learn to shake off our troubles otherwise we will  drag ourselves down including the people around us.
*You may not feel like smiling but if we want to rise above that emotion, we have to smile by faith.
*God works from the inside out but He expect us to work from the outside in. Thus we have to put a smile first and then joy will follow.

*Learn to develop the character stability!
*Your ability will only be released through stability ~unknown.
*God will not promote us if we keep on losing our patience, our cool, our character.
*We are anointed to enjoy our everyday life. Today is a big event because we're still alive!

Looking Down

I created this simple comics based on a talk I've heard the other day....
comics looking down
Isn’t he ridiculous?  I guess....

Anyway, some people might think and act just like him. (I'm guilty, sometimes) ...
Glad to find something valuable along the way...
and overjoyed after getting more the next day....

And then on succeeding days, we're expecting ‘luck’ to happen again and again. Sometimes   even frustrated whenever we find nothing.

What makes the situation worse is the fact that  some people are getting accustomed to look down while going through life’s highway and unaware of  other good things around.

I remember a message from one unknown author,
let me share via this graphic:

Decision & Action (A Froggy Tale)

Three frogs are talking to each other.
They are discussing their plans of leaving the place.

froggy tale on action

How many frogs do you think were left?
Still three perhaps...
Because nobody acted on their decisions.

Making a decision and acting on your decision are two different things.

And Tony Robbins was right when he said,

"A real decision is measured by the fact that
you've taken a new action.
If there's no action, you haven't truly decided."

And, I couldn't agree more...

Keep on Moving

You might be moving aimlessly, just like them...

 it seems you're going nowhere...
Sometimes you're in doubt if you’ll ever get to your  destination...

you’re getting tired...
sometimes dispirited.
it’s not an easy journey...
(and who got the perfect trip anyway?, perhaps nobody)

Just be patient! They will not be

Life's Like That! 3

Here’s the last part of the trilogy (lol). Just like the first and second parts, the message is quite the same. Life has to go on, no matter what. Sometimes we’re up, sometimes we’re down but we have to look at the brighter side. Though sometimes it is easier said than done. This post is also my way of welcoming the yuletide season. (dahil maaga talaga ang Pasko sa Pinas!)

What's My Level Today?

stairs to success I can do it
How I wish there are elevators…

However, according to Joe Girard, ‘The elevator to success is out of order. You'll have to use the stairs... one step at a time.’ Hmmm.. and reaching the top requires patience, hard work, discipline and positive attitude. It reminds me of the poem written by Walter D. Wintle.

If you think you're beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win, but think you can't,
It's almost a cinch, you won't.

If you think you're losing, you've lost.
For out in the world we find -
Success being with a fellow's will,
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you're outclassed, you are,
You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go,
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the one who thinks he can.
~by Walter D. Wintle

When Troubles Come...

For days filled with anxieties, here’s my wish for you…
May God give you relief for every stress
Whenever troubles come, I would remind myself that things shall pass just like any season.  Sometimes I would utter the simple prayer posted below. It's the prayer  written in the breviary of St.Teresa of Avila.

Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things pass away:
God never changes.

Patience obtains all things.
He who has God
finds he lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.

Green-eyed Monster

Envy, a monster  we often fail to recognize.  A fierce foe to conquer because he will squeeze the  joy and life out of his victim. And yes, I have to deal with him too,  from time to time.

Envy is the art of counting the other fellow's blessings instead of your own. ~Harold Coffin

Envy is a symptom of lack of appreciation of our own uniqueness and self worth. Each of us has something to give that no one else has. ~Elizabeth O'Connor

Our envy always lasts longer than the happiness of those we envy. ~François Duc de La Rochefoucauld

Blessed is he who has learned to admire but not envy, to follow but not imitate, to praise but not flatter, and to lead but not manipulate. ~William Arthur Ward

Instead of focusing on what others have that I don’t, I thank God for what I do have. And before I know it, I forget what I’m envious about because I’m drowning in a sea of blessings. ~Rissa S. Kawpeng

God's Whispers

comics God's whisper
God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks to us in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world ~C.S. Lewis

We all want God’s voice to thunder through the air with the answer to our problem. But God’s is the still small voice...the gentle whisper. Nothing draws human focus quite like a whisper. Perhaps there’s reason. God’s whisper means "I must stop ranting and move closer to Him until my head is bent together with His and then, as I listen, I will find my answer."  ~author unknown

I sought to hear the voice of God and climbed the topmost steeple, but God declared: "Go down again - I dwell among the people. ~John Henry Newman

Let your heart guide you. It whispers softly, so listen closely. ~author unknown

We Build Our Homes

The story have been told  many times but still a good reminder.
hammer cartoon

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire and he told his contractor about his plans to leave the business. He plans to live a more leisurely life with his wife and his extended family.

The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go but asked him if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter agreed  but his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.

When the carpenter finished his work, his employer came to inspect the house. Then he handed the front-door key to the carpenter and said, "This is your house... my gift to you."

The carpenter was shocked!  What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.  (author unknown)

Living a life is like constructing a building: if you start wrong, you'll end wrong. ~Maya Angelou

Slow Down

Slowing it down today. The good Lord is  never in a  hurry, anyway.
He's taking His sweet time. He's more concern with us
than our dreams...
slow down cartoon
Slow down; God is still in heaven. You are not responsible for doing it all yourself, right now.
Remember a happy, peaceful time in your past. Rest there. Each moment has richness that takes a lifetime to savor.
Taste your food. God gives it to delight as well as to nourish.
Count your blessings - one at a time and slow.
~author unknown

For fast-acting relief, try slowing down. ~Lily Tomlin

It is important from time to time to slow down, to go away by yourself, and simply be. ~Eileen Caddy

Paying Attention

Sometimes we are caught up in a busy world that we become unaware of the danger
ahead of us  just like this caricature.  I have posted here a part of a newspaper write-up  by Fr. Jerry Orbos.  A good reminder for everyone.
so listen to me my sons cartoon
When God orders us to do something, we must listen. Many of us half-listen or do not listen at all. Why? Because we listen to ourselves or to the world around us. God speaks to us every day in ordinary ways. In the Holy Bible He speaks to us in a special way. If we want to listen to God, we must tone down the volume of our own headsets and the noise of the world around us. Only with a listening ear, and a prayerful heart can we truly listen and discern. ~Fr. Jerry Orbos

Everything has been said before, but since nobody listens we have to keep going back and beginning all over again. ~Andre Gide

Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it! ~Luke 11:28

Clogged Pipelines

life canvas cartoon

I received another GodWhispers newsletter from Bo Sanchez yesterday. The message made me stop and think for awhile. The creative juice in me resulted to that graphic illustration above.

The image says it all. Most of the time, we fail to receive the blessings we deserve just because we allow the ‘clogs’ to build-in through time. It could be a sin or wrong doing, self-doubt, wrong beliefs or failure to take actions. As for me, I need to examine my ways and decide to ‘clean’ the pipelines. And in the process, I knew ‘blessings’ will flow continuously.

A clean engine always delivers power so will a clean mind produces power. ~Norman Vincent Peale

The Lord has dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me. ~2 Samuel 22:21

Weighing Us Down

I seldom travel but I always know that it's uncomfortable to go anywhere with so much weight to carry. The  same is true with our lives, it's not good to carry so much burden.
things that weigh us down artwork
To have more mental energy for your business or profession, you must relieve yourself of things that weigh down your mind. Worry, anxiety, fear and lack of focus all weigh down the mind. Why? Again, these things steal your excitement for the things in life. Stolen excitement = lack of motivation for work. ~Dr. Littleton

Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.
Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.
Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. ~Proverbs 4:25 -27

I am Full

full of self, life canvas
When you are full of yourself, nothing can fill you. Be an empty vessel so that God can fill you. ~author unknown

The intelligent man who is proud of his intelligence is like the condemned man who is proud of his large cell. ~Simone Weil

A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you're looking down, you can't see something that's above you. ~C. S. Lewis

Pride requires very costly food - its keeper's happiness. ~Charles Caleb Colton

Though the Lord is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar. ~Psalm 138:6

Chasing Happiness

Where can we find happiness? Is it in front or behind us?
Is it in the future or in the past?

chasing happiness cartoon
The story is told about a young lion that asked his mother: “Where is happiness?” The mother lion responded: “On your tail.” Upon hearing this, the young lion started chasing his tail, and spent the whole day doing so. Seeing the young lion tired and exhausted, the mother lion said: “Son, you don’t chase happiness. Just keep moving forward, and your happiness will follow.”

Sometimes we make the mistake of pushing too hard the doors ahead of us, when all we needed to do is to pull. Or, trying to chase after a butterfly, when all we need to do is just to sit still, and let the butterfly come to us and settle on our shoulders. ~shared by Fr. Jerry Orbos SVD

Come to me all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.  ~ Matthew 11:28

Truly Grateful

Most people can, but won't.  Though we may find life quite difficult sometimes,
we  have to remember  one vital key to happiness ~ gratitude!
smile on your face
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. ~ John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Gratitude is when memory is stored in the heart and not in the mind. ~ Lionel Hampton

God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today.  Have you used one to say "thank you?"  William A. Ward

Persistent Grasses

Hope we develop that kind of persistence...

Knowing trees, I understand the meaning of patience. Knowing grass, I can appreciate persistence. ~Hal Borland

We are made to persist. That's how we find out who we are. ~Tobias Wolff

Don't ever give up. Don't ever give in.
Don't ever stop trying. Don't ever sell out.
And if you find yourself succumbing to one of the above for a brief moment, pick yourself up, brush yourself off, whisper a prayer, and start where you left off. But never, ever, ever give up. ~Richelle E. Goodrich

Determination gives you the resolve to keep going in spite of the roadblocks that lay before you. ~Denis Waitley

He conquers who endures. ~Persius

No matter how much falls on us, we keep plowing ahead. That's the only way to keep the roads clear. ~Greg Kincaid
